Is it for Real?

We live in an age where we can create computer software and sequencing, and hardware to build robot car makers and even manufacture smaller & smaller chips for ever more powerful computers - even to the point of presuming to simulate the big bang and the universe, but god forbid that we should conceive of a higher being or 'creator' of the universe.

We live in an age where dna sequencing is almost complete, where we presume to be able to manipulate genes to create new species and/or beings thru genetic modification, but god forbid we should dare presume that man (humanity) is the product of anything other than 'evolution' and natural selection.

It seems the only thing that truly defines some large brains, is their inability to accept there could be anything greater than themselves - and this in the age when we can communicate via mobile phone with unseen beings on the remotest corners of the earth (the other side of the planet) or even on the ISS International Space Station, if not quite on other planets yet, and we are on the verge of showing that other worlds in other dimensions may actually 'exist' even if we are still far from communicating with them, or travelling there.

But hey, some people whilst busy insisting that imagination and fiction are not 'real' - fail to realise they are very much a part of the 'real' world.

What is clear is that the human species has evolved in the last 50 years. By and large the females of the species can now choose, if, when & where they wish to procreate, and organ transplants mean that many who would by 'natural selection' be dead, can now hope to live a little longer. But no matter how far we try to be masters of our own destiny, we still have no choice in whether we are born, where & when. By and large we have no say on where, when, and how we die.

Ultimately, perhaps the only difference between humans & turkeys, is that turkeys get 'plucked' before they get stuffed at xmas.

By enlarge the females of the species can now choose,....

That should be "..by and large..."

and NOT .."enlarge the female.."

I have to admit, I was a bit confused over this post.

"...but god forbid that we should conceive of a higher being or 'creator' of the universe."

Are you saying that you believe in a higher being that created the universe?

What do you think Debs

Of course there is a big guy in the sky directing all the traffic.
We humans are his little "cosmic joke" in the wide Universes of his creations.

I had this convo today Q.
I deduced that there must be a God.
That my life is blueprinted out somewhere, and when my number is up, it's up.
I shall return to the all-that-is to begin another assignment.
After all, everything that ever was, ever is, as all matter contained in the Universe has always been here, there is no "new" matter. So where are all these new people coming from?
Why, the dust of course.
It's in the handy manual called "the Bible". A scientific guide to God.

How ya doing Q baby!

Well, I don't know about that... when it's our time, we seem to get "plucked" up from whatever thing we were doing, right before we're sent through the inferno... hope you're doing well, quas...

Well Jesus was pretty human

changing water into wine? well who wouldn't if they could. Everybody likes to provide good wine at a party, and every host wants their guests to be merry. If all else fails resort to home-brew

Losing your temper with money lenders? Well everyone likes money for nothing, but who likes to pay interest (especially high interest)

But would Jesus be like Jim Morrison or any other pop idol or rock'n'roll star - in other words get laid as often as he could ...
well there is always the story of Jesus and the prostitute

But hell in biblical terms, I guess most if not all women in the 21st century are prostitutes

After all our mothers may come from a generation where our dad is the only man they've ever been to bed with ...
but I think that is more a rarety between women of your and mine generation

at least in the so called 'civilized' world or economically advanced first world. Not withstanding that rape and/or early widowhood is still very much commonhood in the troubled spots of the so called third world too.

But what would Jesus do?
Turning the other cheek
is and always been the hardest thing to do

Not following the desires of the flesh is and always has been the hardest thing to do

Aaaah Love - that thorny bush
the more intense the love, the more intense the hurt when it is lost. The more intense the pleasure the deeper the pain when the 'drug' is removed.

But inner stillness?
who can achieve that? Buddha?

Better to have loved and die, than never to have loved at all
Better to live and die, than never to have lived at all

And when there's nothing left to fight for, nothing left to die for
No belief or desire to sacrifice oneself for ...
then what is there left to live for

There is only one thing for sure - Death.
And anything we may imagine today we cannot live without, we can be sure one day we'll have to do without. Letting go can be so hard, yet even LOVE & LIFE or LOVE of LIFE we must one day let go of
